Matsuo house is a fantastic place to stay at Zao Onsen. The hosts go beyond in every way to make you feel welcome and provide information on the area. Restaurant ideas, rental options and the Onsen possibilities explained perfectly. Will return.

We loved our stay at Matsuo House. Taka, Oraphin and Yuuchan were amazing hosts. They were so welcoming and made us feel right at home. The rooms are traditiinL tatami rooms, futon beds. The lodge is right beside one of the public onsens and close to the chairlifts. Highlight of our ski trip to Japan. We will be back. Especially loved our morning greetings from 3 yo Yuuchan - "sleep well?" We sure did. Xx

Everything about this place is warm and welcoming. The family that run it are the sweetest and do everything they can to make you feel at home. Full of recommendations for where to go and what to do in ZAO. The cutest little kid Yui chan and rooms are nice and simple. Cannot recommend any higher. Also great place to talk to other nice people and hang out.

The accommodation is great and the host family is super nice! Great place to stay when skiing. They helped us out a lot and gave us lots of good advice that allowed us to enjoy Zao Onsen to the max.
