Location was superb, the flat was clean and spacious. Good selection of Kitchen equipment, comfy sofas and TVs in each room kept the kids entertained at night.

We had a problem to begin with as the address of the property isn’t correct( as well as where the zoom in map takes you to) the address appears to be in stonehouse gardens which you get to from back st Hilda’s terrace but is at the other end. Our first problem was that the provided parking outside the house is only suitable for small cars. Next door had already parked and although strictly speaking my husband could park his Hyundai Santa Fe in there he couldn’t then get out of the car! My brother has a Range Rover so no joy there either. Luckily next door was a car park where it was £9.70 for 24 hours, we paid for this for the weekend then used the scratch cards provided for the rest of the week. I did over the first few days use the message service to ask questions re the parking - but there was NO REPLY! The house wasn’t clean enough. There were cobwebs on the ceilings and the last groups crumbs on the bench( as well as the cutlery/crockery not being clean enough) The house wasn’t well provisioned, not enough wine glasses (we bought a pack of 4 and left them)only 5 tea plates , no serving spoons/basins or bowls/ clothes airer etc. We were an old family group- the youngest being 62 and the oldest 84 so things like no lock on the bathroom door, or a grab rail or a slip mat for the bath were uncomfortable There wasn’t any info re the heating which seemed to go on and off at unreasonable times. And finally (for the moaning) one day there was a dreadful stale urine smell in the downstairs en suite. I cleaned everything and chucked disinfectant and boiling water etc down every hole I could find and then went out for the morning- luckily it had gone when we returned. However, even with all these things( that actually could be easily remedied) the beds were comfortable, the bedrooms spacious. The position in Whitby wonderful, the showers very good and we had a great week at a good price

We were 4 gentlemen in our 70s, we had a room each, the cottage is finished to a high standard, very close to the harbour, a couple of pubs and restaurants very close. Parking was a bonus and scratcrdards leftt for parking on the road if any problems. Whitby is a great place for a trip away, Yorkshire people are very welcomeing and friendly, I would recommend anyone to have a trip there.
