“Great accommodation”
07 Jun 2025
The location was great.. very nice rooms. We were there twice on this trip to Newfoundland. 2 nights at the beginning and 3 nights at the end. The breakfast was excellent. Parking was provided. The room on both occasions was exceptional. Sherry and David were both friendly and had lots of suggestions of things to do. We highly recommend it. Thanks. We hope to return.

“Beautiful luxurious Bed and Breakfast centrally located.”

The room was beautiful, spacious and very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was outstanding, close to many sights and restaurants. The breakfast was good. Check in was seamless and parking was directly in front of the Bed and Breakfast.

“We loved it.”

This is a very quiet and mature B&B. It is in an old house, probably built in the years after the Great Fire of 1892 in St. John's, and has been lovingly restored by David, who came to Newfoundland in the very early 1990's. He is very happy to discuss the history of the house and the marvelous restoration work that he has performed. Breakfast is in the dining room on the main floor and is very much a "help yourself" arrangement, which we found to be a very homey affect. The kitchen is open during the day, so you can help yourself to tea, coffee, etc at any time. The room that we had, #1, was on the second floor and looked directly over the harbour and out the Narrows (the entrance to St. John's harbour). The room is big, with a very comfortable double bed, and a sitting area - delightfully relaxing. The bathroom was a nice size with a stand-up shower that had very good pressure and temperature control. Balmoral is situated very close to downtown without being "downtown". It is an easy 10 minute walk to the restaurants, shops and sights of historic Duckworth and Water Streets. In a nutshell, we loved our stay in Balmoral. It easily rivals some of the very nice B&Bs that we were fortunate to have visited when we lived in northern Europe. Thanks David.

“Would highly recommend if your looking for an old world bnb.”

Lovely old charm. Bed was very comfortable. Are washroom was a little small, no where to put things. Shower was great.
