This was our second stay at Serdika Rooms, so we had a good idea of what to expect: modest living conditions, but an excellent location that is hard to beat. It’s right in the city center, where multiple layers of Sofia meet—the shopping promenade, churches, mosques and synagogues, ruins and modern buildings—all intersecting near the metro station that’s practically at the door. The host was very responsive through Booking.com chat and answered all our inquiries promptly. We arrived outside of standard check-in hours but were provided with clear and easy instructions to let ourselves in. The room was even more modest than we remembered from last year. The bathroom was private but located across the hallway, which came as a surprise, but it was lockable and used only by us. Everything was clean, though both the room and bathroom could use some renovation.
