🌿 A true green oasis with wonderful service! 🌿 We were very happy with our stay at this lovely hotel and truly impressed by the service. Although the hotel is located by the road, it feels completely hidden thanks to the lush green bushes and plants all around – you don’t see or hear the road, and instead feel like you are staying in a little oasis full of flowers and greenery. The fact that the hotel has only four rooms makes the experience even more private, cozy and personal. The rooms themselves are spacious and comfortable – we are a family of four and still had plenty of space to relax and enjoy our stay. When we arrived, there was a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers waiting for us in the room – such a charming and thoughtful touch. Our room was on the first floor, and we really enjoyed having coffee on the balcony, surrounded by the garden view. The pool was great – clean, fresh and very well maintained. Not only was it cleaned early in the morning, but the staff also came by during the day to remove any leaves. Breakfast was excellent and very filling – always a big and varied meal. Every morning started with freshly squeezed juice, a plate of fresh fruit, local Sri Lankan dishes (one day banana pancakes and Kiribath with green beans – my favourite, another day egg hoppers, and on the last day banana pancakes and coconut pancakes), followed by an omelette, and toasted bread with pineapple jam and butter. And yes, breakfast really is big! We also loved the freshly brewed coffee with cinnamon – such a nice touch. Both the manager and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. On our first day, we were planning to visit Lion Rock at sunrise and watch the sunset at Pidurangala Rock. But the manager suggested we switch them around – and it turned out to be a perfect recommendation. We’re really glad we listened to his advice! He also helped us arrange a tuk‑tuk early in the morning to get to Pidurangala Rock on time.

We had a brilliant stay in Lion Gate Hotel! Everyone working there was so kind, friendly and helpful. We had the traditional breakfast in the morning which we really enjoyed. The hotel is a very short tuktuk ride from everything you could want to see and do. We also enjoyed spending time at the pool which was very well maintained.

Bernard and the staff were incredibly nice. Bernard helped to organise our four day itinerary with sunrise and sunset hikes to Pidarungala and Lion rock. Furthermore he helped to organise a wonderful cooking class and a Safari. I can't emphasise enough how good a time we had. There are also a couple of cool restaurants right next to the hotel. The stay was amazing, the hotel was clean and we did also have some time to enjoy the pool. I highly recommend this hotel.
