Lisa “Amazing view in a spacious apartment”

The view over the marina and the ocean was just amazing and the apartment was very spacious. We really enjoyed our time at this accommodation. It is slightly out of the way but there was restaurants and shops close by and we walked to or from the train station at least a couple of times with no problems. The hosts hint to get off the train at the next station only when we had our luggage as the taxis are closer was very helpful. Would definitely recommend this accommodation.

Tonino, the host was brilliant, he was social without being intrusive and very helpful. The location is superb. The views from the balconies (there are two) are breathtaking. Marina di Cassano is a small quiet place with lovely restaurants, a small grocery shop, coffee shop and a great shop that sells wine, gifts and delicious things to eat. There is even a church a few steps away. The apartment was WOW! I cannot rate it highly enough, clean and with everything we needed. Beware if you can't do stairs as you'll need to climb some steep ones to get into the apartment (20+) but it's well worth it. If you arrive during the siesta period (between 1pm-4pm) then make sure you have basic provisions, there is tea and coffee provided. If you are not driving then you'll need to use the lift up to the main town (check the timings as they differ by season and it costs 50 cents each time). Ristorante L'Approdo is almost at the bottom of the stairs and you'll get a great meal and a friendly welcome. Another good restaurant is a 2-minute walk from the apartment. Follow the promenade to the right in front of the apartment to reach Ristorante Fracatell - it's family run, again great food and they will always greet you with a smile. If this is your first trip to Piano di Sorrento and you are coming from Naples Railway Station, I recommend that you look for the InStazione tourist services office (look for the red logo), you can just pay for the train, it'll cost more than the normal one (around euro18) but they will guide you to the correct train and it's a clean fast one that caters for tourists so until you find your feet it may give you more confidence. When you arrive at Piano di Sorrento there are not always regular taxis but you can call Alberto on +39 334 313 1266 and he charges around 15 euros to get to the apartment. It's easy to get to Sorrento by taxi/car and we took the ferry to Capri direct from the marina.

We loved everything about Tonino's home. It's nautical theme of white & blue was a perfect background to the amazing sea & sky colors. We never got bored of looking out the windows to the marina, particularly the kitchen window, which is the star of this home. Unfortunately, of the 6 days we were there it rained, with some spectacular lightening shows at night. It prevented us from exploring the coast, but again we were quite content to sit and look out the windows. There is a lengthy balcony to sit out on & enjoy day or night. The apartment is large, kitchen well stocked, a nice large shower and a comfortable bed. There is a little deli further down the street with two lovely ladies who will serve you up a hefty sandwhich. Leave your change in their little cat "box" on the counter as they buy food to feed the many cats in area.. To get up the hill, into town there is a small bus - says Piano Di Sorrento on its front & Mr. Dash on the back. It comes by every 20 minutes after the hour. Starts at 0820. Give or take 5 or 10 minutes!!! It will go to the train station and then stops in town at the Piazza Cota in front of the barber shop where it sits till 10 minutes after the hour. 1 Euro per person each way. Or you can take the sea lift a small elevator up to the top of the hill and then you can walk. .50 euro pp. There is a supermercato on one of the streets heading into town. There were 2 restaurants open when we were there. At L'Approdo order their mussels marinara. It was delicious!!! Read about Tonino & Cassano Blu at the front of the guest book.
