Old style building, good location near to subway and highlights of the city such as Times Square or Central Park. Nice restaurants and bars around. The first day we had a little complaining about the cleaning of our room but that can happen. The rest of our stay was pretty decent. I recommend it. Appreciate Maria's hospitality.

Pre-arrival communication was good. JV was particularly welcoming upon our arrival and was pleasant and helpful throughout our one week stay: he really gave the front desk a human and friendly feel. The hotel is pleasant from the outside, a real gem of a building, and is clean and well-maintained inside - including our room. The elevators are small but there was never a particularly long wait. Despite being on the 8th floor we tended to take the stairs down, which were clean and obstacle-free. The corridors and rooms are well-designed. The building (classic) was one of the reasons I chose this hotel, and we were fortunate to be able to stay in a corner room with four large windows (with automatic blinds) looking in multiple directions. There was also sufficient seating and we enjoyed looking out at the hustle and bustle of Broadway. The bed was comfortable. The room was clean. The bathroom was clean and sufficiently spacious, with decent storage. All in all we were very happy there and looked forward to arriving after a long day pounding the streets and museums of NYC. I knew from reading other reviews that there may be issues with 'thin walls' and also that the breakfast offer was not particularly generous. We did have some noise issues on two nights (our room had a connecting door to a neighbouring room), but I reported these to the front desk and, half an hour or so later, the noise stopped. Whether this was thanks to the front desk or simply the neighbours going to bed, I don't know! The cafe on the ground floor is pleasant and offers some tasty pastries as well as yoghurts and drinks. We were each given a $10 voucher for each day of our stay, which was enough for a freshly squeezed orange juice and a pastry. When the weather was good we sat outside, otherwise we sat in the small section near the lobby. When the time came to leave, we appreciated that we could store our luggage in the storage room for free.
