The brother and sister who run this place are lovely. Though tours and meals are available, there is no hard sell and they basically leave you alone. I don't know if Manik usually gets up about 6am (probably), but she does when I'm there, to make my morning coffee. Beautiful little garden that is surprisingly quiet given the busy road location. The fan in my room was super fast, making air con unnecessary. Also the building design seems to help keep the temperature down. I have stayed there 4 times over two trips, and it feels like my home in Sri Lanka now. Jaya was delighted when I told him this, but not surprised, as he hears it a lot. The one meal I did order was excellent (first time I've ever enjoyed okra). Electric mosquito zapper in the room is a nice touch, as new arrivals may not have had a chance to source one. Mosquito net also very adequate. When I arrived last time they accidentally overcharged me (as they got dollars and pounds confused) when converting. Only came to £5, so I didn't bother raising it. Two hours later they came to me with a refund an apology. As I said, they're lovely like that. Can't recommend this place enough.

Big room, very clean, nice hosts, excellent location (close to beach, only 20mins to airport), very quiet, beautiful garden. Breakfast is also very good (1000Rs)

My answers reflect the satisfaction in relation to the price of the room. Some guests seem to expect the same standard as at the five-star luxury hotels, even though they do not even pay a tenth of the luxury hotel prices at Manik homestay. I was greeted with warmth and superb service. Very service-oriented staff. Good cheap breakfast and on request a good evening meal (Rice and curry) which was significantly cheaper than out in this tourist-dense area.

Very friendly welcome in Sri Lanka. Nice accomodation with helpful and kind hosts. Dont miss their fantastic local breakfast!
