The staff, location and hostel are fab! It's light and airy with plenty of space to lounge about and/or work between walks and surf lessons.

I visited in May, just before the surf season begins proper in summer, so my stay was quiter than peak times. The Surf House itself is in a great location if you want to go to the beach for Area de Maior for surfing or Sanfranciso for relaxing. Staff were very helpful, friendly and also are great instructors. Abel is very passionate about watersports and made the surf house very accommodating for those wanting to do any water activity with lots of showers, really comfortable rooms, and plenty of space to chill between surf sessions. The surf house is linked with the Abel Lago surf school, which provides lessons and decent hiring equipment. I highly recommend the Area Surf House.

Super comfy beds, clean showers and kitchen area, has a parking lot and also indoor space to put boards :) overall very good
