Inns Overview

We reopened the doors at The Chequers in summer '24 with a simple idea – a pub dedicated to the locals. We spent the summer as a drinker’s pub with food vendors pitching up out the front, the occasional DJ on the decks in the sunshine, and we hosted our own craft beer festival.
Our community has supported us along the way making it possible for us to make plans to open our kitchen in January 2025.
The Chequers is now your local spot for food, friends, and a great pour.
Our menu is about the kind of food that brings people together—down-to-earth, simple, and tasty.
The pie is the hero of our menu, because what's a pub without a proper pie?
Expect all your well loved fillings like beef, chicken, and veg, but with a twist. Always expect the unexpected.
Breakfast is a laid-back affair followed by casual brunch plates and hearty pub favourites.
No reservation? No problem. We will happily find you a spot.
Behind the bar, you'll find craft, cask, and cans, local spirits, good wine, and great low and no options. And, we make a pretty mean coffee.
We are open all day, every day for everything from a swift pint to afternoon beers and board games. There is always a spot waiting for you at the bar.
We have 11 bedrooms some above the pub and some in the cottage next door.We've made sure each room has everything you need for a good night's sleep. So, all you need to do is make yourself at home. Then when you’re ready pop down for a pint, pie or game of pool.
We’re serving up simple pleasures that make a pub feel like home.

This double room features a flat-screen TV and walk-in showers. Please note this room type cannot accommodate dogs.

Luxury Double Room - enter dates to see room photos

This room offers an en-suite with either walk-in shower or bath with overhead shower and complimentary ESPA toiletries. There is a king-size, duck down duvets and pillows, hair dryer and bathrobe. You will also find a cafetiere, fresh coffee and homemade biscuits, bottled still and sparkling water and sloe gin. There is also a DAB radio with Spotify connection, and Bluetooth. This room also features a Sony Smart TV and Netflix. Only some rooms can accommodate dogs, pending on availability.

Premium Double Room - enter dates to see room photos

Featuring a king-size bed with duck down duvet. Some of the rooms features a free standing bath whilst others have a seating area. The en-suite bathrooms have a walk-in shower and a separate bath, with complimentary toiletries, hair dryer and bathrobes. You will also find a cafetiere, fresh coffee, homemade biscuits, bottled still and sparkling water and sloe gin. There is also a DAB radio with Spotify connection, and Bluetooth. Lovely quirky place . Very friendly and a peaceful stay , our room was clean comfortable and with a designer feel . Breakfast was great and served until 2pm which we loved as it gave is a chance to go for a walk before

After walking 17 miles and turning up at 8 o'clock in the evening, they were very helpful,and it was easy to 4 book the room. It was great, dropped my gear off, and had a quick pint. had a nice shower and relaxed in bed with a hot chocolate and tv great breakfast in the morning, my only think don't burn the bacon great stay ill be back

Great location that's why we chose it!! The bar and restaurant were lovely. Great food and beautiful helpful staff, they couldn't do enough for you. The breakfast in the morning was 10/10, superb. Thankyou x
