Barbara “3 nights at Holbox”

So, why only 6? The hotel is very nice, very clean, in a good position near the central square, with a nice pool, a sports bar and a café that serves a good breakfast (yogurt, granola with fresh fruit, sweet pastries and coffee/tea included in breakfast room rate). So it could have been an 8. However, I booked a double room that (from the pictures and description) should have been on the first floor balcony looking out on the garden. Instead, our room was dank and dark with small windows that looked out on the stairs and the cluttered backyard of the bar. I complained but they couldn't give us another room that night but they would give us an upgrade the next day. And they did: the most beautiful king size suite of the hotel. I was amazed. But as soon as we wanted to take a shower, we discovered there was only a trickle of water. We waited a bit but it didn't change. Complaints brought the plumber but he said repairs would take much more time. We complained some more but apparently there was not much to be done. The guy next door had the same problem. Perhaps the problem is due to it being the second and highest floor but anyhow, sometimes you could a shower with a minimum of water, sometimes not at all. A pity for such a nice hotel and I hope they can fix the problem.

Fantastic location. Nice and comfortable room. Lovely outdoor space with hammocks and seating area with lots of well maintained plants. Pool was great for kids.

Central hotel right off the boat. Nice accomodation just stays one night. Very basic.

The staff at the front desk were extremely friendly and helped us arrange a bioluminesicent tour which was amazing! Nothing was too much for them. We could not fault the rooms and it was lovely to have hot water in the showers.
