Food and service were amazing! The staff were excellent and accommodating. The room was spacious, and the private and public baths were clean and well-maintained. Meals were in private rooms, and ingredients were fresh and well-prepared. The staff also offered a ride from the hotel to an area in Hakone of our choice (once during our entire stay), which helped us to enjoy some of the other main attractions in the area.

Staff were so sweet, friendly and helpful from the moment we checked in. The traditional hotel was such a nice peaceful get away after being in Tokyo, the perfect way to relax. The room was very clean & spacious and had everything you could need. Breakfast and dinner was so tasty & fresh there was heaps of variety and so much food. They drop you off and pick you up when you are headed out for the day which was amazing as it is very tricky to get around Hakone. Private onsen on your balcony and you can book for the other bigger one again each day and there was a sauna there as well.

We had an amazing and relaxing stay here. The private onsen was lovely and there was no one in the public ones when we went, so it was basically like a second private onsen. The staff didn’t speak too much English but they were so kind and friendly - the hotel’s driver drove us into Gora and they were great about arranging taxis. The food is incredible quality and generous portions, even though the traditional breakfast was admittedly a little challenging and there is a lot of raw fish and some raw horse meat at dinner (you can tell the hotel if you don’t eat raw fish though)! The room was a very good size after the tiny rooms of Tokyo, and we loved all the extra amenities like skincare included in the room. The bath on the balcony is very small but it’s lovely to sit in if you do fit!

The service is excellent. Dinner/breakfast is wonderful. The size of the room is also generous. Private onsen experience is definitely a highlight.
