The fine print
Cash payment is the only payment method accepted at the property.In order to prepare special amenities for men and women, guests are kindly requested to indicate the gender of each guest staying in the room in the Special Requests box at the time of booking.Guests arriving after 18:00 must inform the property in advance. Reception is open until 20:00. If the property is not informed, the booking may be treated as a no show from 20:00. Contact details can be found on the booking confirmation.Heating fees will be charged in addition to the price of the reservation, from November to April on a yearly basis.

The owner is nice and friendly, and nice to talk to. I speak some Japanese and it's really great to get a chance to practice it with her. She is really accommodating. The ryokan itself is OK. A bit old but it adds to the charm to the place!

I really enjoyed my stay at Henmi Ryokan, and definitely recommend it to anyone staying in Hakodate! The host is absolutely wonderful; even though I only speak a little Japanese, thanks to her patience (and some help from google translate!) it wasn't an issue at all. I found the Japanese style room here to be very comfortable and a really nice experience.
