The fine print
From 1st January 2023, a tourist tax of RM 10 per room per night is applied to all foreign guests. This tax is not included in the room rate and must be paid upon check-in. Guests with a valid Malaysian Identity Card or valid permanent residents MY PR Card are exempted. Effective 1 June 2014, the Penang State Government will be imposing a local government fee of MYR 3 per room per night, payable directly to the hotel upon check in.- The name on the credit card used for the booking should correspond to the guest staying at the property. For reservations made by a third party, you will need to complete an authorisation form and present a copy of the person's ID and credit card.- Please note that for bookings of 3 rooms or single booking with more than 3 nights and above, the hotel requires a 30% prepayment upon reservation.Guests are required to show a photo identification and credit card upon check-in. Please note that all Special Requests are subject to availability and additional charges may apply.

Oh wow - there are hotels and there's the E&O. It was such a delight to stay there and, for two nights only, it was was like living in a different world. The room was sheer luxury and the staff were superb. I decided not to explore the island for the whole day and, instead, relax by the pool in the late afternoon with a beautiful view across the bay. There was a choice of two breakfast rooms and, luckily, I went for the continental option on the 6th floor which was much quieter than the main dining room and the view was also delightful. This hotel will definitely be one of my highlights on what is currently an amazing trip to Malaysia.

It’s the best hotel in the world. Its the kind of place you go to enjoy the hotel and not the destination itself (even though i adore penang and malaysia). Very generous with their guests

This hotel was the perfect place to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We stayed 4 nights and the E&O did not disappoint. We stayed in the Victory Annexe on the 15th floor and felt that this was probably a better option than staying in the Heritage Wing. While the breakfast buffet in the 6th floor was nowhere near as extensive as the ground floor Sarkies bar, we preferred it because the views from the terrace were great. Pool was fantastic, although occasionally all the sun lounges were taken. Service, as expected in a hotel like this, was exemplary. Our room was huge and when check out time came we did not want to leave.
