The tall, elegantly dressed lady on reception welcomed me with a smile. That's always a good start. Gary, the night porter was superb! A genuinely nice man. He chatted to me and pointed out things of interest. As a solo traveller I cannot emphasise how welcome these small acts of kindness are. A very clean, attractive, comfortable and well run establishment.

We booked a Double room for two nights but what we got was a room that caters mainly for Business and Travelling customers. The room size was adequate, perfectly clean and the bathroom clean and functional - perfect for a short stay.

If you want to visit a place that whisks you away to the 1800s, this is the place. I travel for work so we usually just book the usual hotel but this was booked in a pinch... and what a lucky pick. A few ancient trees on site, cows close by, stunning views, really lovely staff, comfortable beds, air con, etc... some rooms are small for the single beds but it adds character and feels cozy. Absolutely love the place! If I'm working in the area again, I will definitely be coming back here. Couldn't fault it in any way. I've had to go to another hotel the following night and find myself missing this place!
