we had a wonderful stay! the hosts are truly amazing and overly friendly and very helpful. We had so many nice talks together! the included breakfast as well as our dinners were muy rico every time. we really liked, that the hotel is ecofriendly and we enjoyed our first hot shower during our 4 weeks in Nicaragua. also the balcony is a cute hangout point with a perfect view over the river. there are a lot of shops around and the hotel is in the middle of El Castillo. I highly recommend to book tours over them, they offer various options and the guides are very professional, ethic and have great knowledge about the animals and the forest. we thank you a lot for the great time we had at your place and will come back when we are in the area again! we will cherish our time with you forever!

Small hotel with location directly on sshore (actually large part on pillars above) the San Juan river. We had room with terrace directly to river on first floor. The family who owns and manages the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful. For instaance, they reserved for us seat on the boat back to San Carlos and helped us to get into the boat. On arrival, they waied for us at the landing and carrried our luggage. This compensates for the very small size of the rooms and bathroom

An absolute gem! Genuine hospitality, attentive, caring, friendly family run establishment. Couldn't do enough for us and made us feel so welcome. The room was beautifully appointed with a gorgeous view of the river. We did the tours with Manuel and it was wonderful, he put so much effort into making our visit one to never forget. Margarita cooked a beautiful breakfast, was so attentive and professional as well as kind and friendly, even getting up at a ridiculous hour to make sure we had coffee and food before we left on the boat in the morning. Over and above. We couldn't be more thrilled with our stay and highly recommend anyone visiting El Castillo to stay here!

The place is wonderful closed to the lanchas pier and in front of the rapids. The river's view from the room is amazing and restful. You sleep with a wonderful watet sound. The host was great and very nice. They organise a boat trip for me to see animals..that was amazing. I had great time. If i come back to el castillo i will Côme back here
