“A relaxing week spent splashing about on the lake, eating too much bread and exploring!”
26 Jan 2025
We had a lovely week at Village Le Chat on the edge of the Dordogne region. The space was extremely well equipped for the size of the place and it felt much more spacious than we were expecting. The beds were comfy, the kitchen well equipped and there were lots of options for seating both inside and out. Village Le Chat is a quiet, unpretentious site with a small bar / restaurant with the occasional bit of entertainment thrown in on an evening such as live music. My young children loved the outside spaces; the pool (and the late night pool party one evening), the lake/beach (with attached ice-cream truck) with the floating slide in the middle of it that was big enough for us to try out our stand-up paddleboard and kayak we had brought, we also had a go at mini-golf and the tennis courts. The on-site shop is small and only open in the morning for bread but there is a good sized Intermarche about 5 minutes drive away so that didn't bother us. We got most of our bread / pastries from the Boulangeire in Bussière-Badil which had an incredibly friendly owner (even with our broken French). Day trips out we took our girls for a day out at Aventure Parc Lacs de Haute Charente; excellent value for money (you can use all the high ropes and zip wires as many times as you want) for an all day, very-tiring, experience. The caves at Villars were also a good morning activity to see the cave paintings paired up with an afternoon in Brantome; make sure to see the glass blower(!) although we wish we had spent a full day here and hired a kayak and used the beach on the river. There was lots more we could have done, the Chateau at La Rochefoucauld-en-Angoumois and Oradour-sur-Glane to name just two other options, but we spent some days just chilling on the site in the lake (trying to stand up on the SUP!) and pool. All in all a great week with time to relax as well as get out and about!

“Comfortable accommodation on a lovely site.”

The property was very comfortable and in a good location. The garden was large and there were plenty of garden furniture and spaces to sit out comfortably in various different areas, front and back. The bed was comfortable and shower very easy to use. We were allowed to invite our family who have a house nearby to join us on site. The pool, lake, tennis courts etc were all available for our use. Colin the owner met us when we arrived and was always prompt to answer any questions we might have. The TV has English channels and we were able to keep up with the Olympics.😊.

“Excellent accommodation. Le Chat village is lovely with great facilities.”

Well equipped and spacious accommodation. Great outdoor space with plenty of seating area inside and out. Great location on site with easy access to the lake and only a short walk to the pool and bar area. Le Chat village has great facilities and was very quiet. Would definitely recommend.
