The wooden cabin is located on the hosts property , high up in the hills above Deshaies ( La Haut) in a remote and peaceful setting. It is a beautiful, natural setting in amongst tropical trees and other vegetation. The cabin has basic facilities which was fine for us, with hot water, a good shower and a basic but adequate kitchen. The bed had a full and effective mosquito net which was essential. Being high up , the temperature was a little cooler and nice breeze was present often. The temperature rarely got above 24 degrees at night at the cabin, so we didn't need the air conditioning at all ( available in bedroom area). The walk down into the lovely Deshaies village took about 20 minutes. It is very steeply downhill, with wonderful views. The return walk is enjoyable but strenuous, and suitable only for a person with reasonable fitness. We had a car for the 3 weeks we stayed and walked when we felt like it. Deshaies has everything you need, if you want to stay away from it all. It has a lovely bakery, and 2 little supermarkets, along with lots of restaurants. It has a small beach and is the best spot locally to see the sunset. This part of Guadaloupe- Basse Terre, is incredibly beautiful. Mountainous and plenty to do. There are 2 incredible, sandy and unspoilt beaches within a short car ride ( one- Grande Anse, is walkable to if you are fit) and lots of walks. Our favourite was Plage de la Perle.

beautiful property with great facilities outstanding hosts Michelle & Claude were very welcoming and great company at our final days lunch Claude kindly provided very reasonably priced transfers to & from airport
