This trip won't be for everyone, but if it is "for" you, this is excellent value. The good: the staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming and above-and-beyond helpful; the location is great, away from the crowds in the town centre, right on a reef; the sea view from the upper floors is stunning; the suites are spacious; everything is clean; there is filtered water throughout the resort; breakfast is great with a station for fresh eggs made to order as well as a generous variety of buffet items. A lifeguard was on hand to watch over snorkelers. The mediocre: the resort is all-inclusive but due to a rotating cast of staff (unlike, say, a cruise ship) you need to tip constantly and there is no ready and reliable way to break larger bills into singles. However, you can tip in dollars. Just bring the singles with you. The facilities at the resort could do with a face-lift. The bad: apart from breakfast, the meals were rather disappointing. We didn't find much that was genuinely delicious. There were daily activities by the pool but this just seemed to add to the constant cacophony caused by blaring pop music. This would not bother everyone, and it didn't go on all night, but I'm sensitive to too much ambient noise so this wore on me. Also this isn't particularly accessibility-friendly. There are ramps to supplement steps everywhere (I get the feeling it is a regulation) but you will get your exercise just getting from your room to breakfast and back. One of the lifts is being replaced so several of the rooms on the top floor were not reachable by elevator - or so we thought. No one advised us there was a maintenance elevator. However, we were moved to the penultimate floor on the second day. We really enjoyed Cozumel. It has made me curious to try the snorkelling elsewhere in the Caribbean. But we felt very safe on the island, and not just within the resort.

My wife and I really enjoyed the bed, dinner, breakfast, and the very friendly and caring staff. The beach area with loungers over the water was wonderful.
