Cat ba as a town you probably only want to stay 2 MAYBE 3 nights. We stayed 4 and wanted to leave early. Not because of the accomodation but the chaos of the town itself. The accomodation was what you paid for. Clean linen & lovely staff. Bathroom needs a total clean as drain floods and is quite filthy. The day tour that we booked was absolutely amazing via the front desk & was the same tour as GetYourGuide but cheaper. Breakfast was again fine, what you pay for but the coffee tasted like gritty strong water. Room 202 door is warped and doesn’t shut properly. Ac strong and two fans. Area quieter than most around 10pm. We booked the bus to Sapa and I kid you not, we were the only two on a VIP huge sleeper bus. Crazy! But nice as it was private at that point. Overall, I’d recommend to a fellow backpacker for its location, staff, and tours but wouldn’t recommend Cat Ba town.

Through lunas hostel we got to book a day trip out to the bay that included kayaking, beach hopping, cycling to a village and some crazy views with a full meal. Absolutely worth the price and was the best way to spend a full day. Our room was huge, far bigger we than expected, as well as the bathroom. The beds were comfortable enough and the free breakfast was well loved and sooo handy to have.
