Decent location but you will need to rent a car to get there as it is not walkable. Beautiful view of the sea from the sea from the balcony. The host was very kind and available if we needed them. Lora of facilities available in the property and close to a really great restaurant and shop nearby.

Apartamento Maria is a very large, clean, airy and comfortable apartment with wonderful views and easy access by car to the mountain trails. Maria was discreet, but attentive when we needed anything and we were appreciative of the fruit and cake on our arrival. We very much enjoyed our trip to Fanal Forest and highly recommend it to fellow travellers. We got there between 10.30am and 11.00am which was the perfect time to capture the trees emerging from the fog. It was such a magical experience, not to be missed! We also loved our hike to see the 25 fountains. The trail was quite hard going but worth it. There is a cafe on the route where you can enjoy a well deserved drink and cake afterwards and enjoy the breath-taking views. We would suggest you get the minibus from the cafe back to the car park to save walking 2.5k uphill at the end of your hike. The mini bus costs 5 euro and is well worth it. We also enjoyed a trip to the Natural Park where we enjoyed more hiking trails. The mountain views were spectacular and the cafe has epic views. Apartamento Maria is very well positioned to access all these wonderful places and a great base to return to for a relaxing drink on the balcony. There is also a restaurant next door which serves very good food and the owners are lovely and friendly and great hosts. All in all we were very happy at Apartamento Maria and highly recommend it.

This is a huge apartment - there is plenty of room inside it. The kitchen is also very large and you can find anything you need. The host is very friendly and helpful. The location is great if you travel by car as you can easily have access to some trails that are available in the eastern side of the island. However, it is difficult to accomodate here if you don't have a car. There is free parking in front of the house.

The apartment was spacious and homey, equipped with everything we needed for a hiking vacation in Madeira. We loved that the kitchen was big for cooking meals at home, and the washing machine is an added bonus to quickly clean sports clothes. Our host welcomed us to the property as soon as we arrived, showed us everything we needed to know. Maria also provided us with fresh eggs, a plate of fruit waiting for us, a pastry and cookies, which were all absolutely delightful.
