Pierre and his staff were very welcoming and helped us arrange transport to the island and back when the ferry wasn't running. They also went out of their way to assist us with outings and planning activities while on the island. It was a very pleasant surprise to find dinner and cooked breakfast included. We were served calamari the one night and fresh fish the other night with sides and salads. We loved the rustic style of the lodge. Cabins were clean with aircon and hot showers. Inhaca island itself was a wonderful, non touristy, beautiful place where you just slot in with the local people. There is none of the hassling you might find in Maputo. We really enjoyed exploring the lighthouse, biological museum (a bit dated) , wondering around the village and walking through the fields, mangroves and along the beach. The snorkeling at Santa Maria was excellent.

Our stay at Kanimambo Lodge was fantastic. It's basic accommodation but with everything you need for a super comfortable stay - ensuite bathroom. Having breakfast & dinner included in the rate, made our stay more relaxing. Going to the Village for lunch at one of the many restaurants is recommended. Pierre was a fabulous host, taking us on a scenic afternoon drive to the North East tip of Inhaca Island to sight-see the abandoned, still functioning, Light-House was a worth while excursion. A very relaxing stay, made more homely with the company of his 3 Jack Russels (Neusie, Matalou & Happy) and Maltese poodle Loopy Poopy. On our Village walks, the dogs accompanied us everywhere, as if they were our own.... never being a nuisance, fitting in like true locals.

Kanimambo lodge is run by a lovely couple, who were warm and welcoming during our visit. They have 5 small dogs who were lovely to visit with as well. The owner arranged a private boat to transport us from Maputo to Inhaca island, and picked us up from the beach. This was an affordable alternative to taking the public ferry to the island. The lodge was quiet and we were the only guests for the 2 nights we were there. The room was comfortable and spacious. The water was hot! The lodge provided breakfast and dinner each day, and I enjoyed the food. We went on a couple of excursions organized by the lodge and they were enjoyable and reasonably priced. This lodge would be perfect for travelers who like to spend time doing quiet activities, like reading and watching the sunrise/sunset. It was a great value for the cost.
