*An Unforgettable Jungle Stay in Bukit Lawang– Thank You, Sam and Team!* **1. Booking & Arrival** The booking process was incredibly easy, and email communication was super fast and helpful—we had everything arranged before we even flew out. Sam’s team kindly organised an airport pickup with Misswadi, and once we reached Bukit Lawang, a few staff members carried all our luggage while we walked to the accommodation. The walk is around 15 minutes along concrete paths and mostly flat, though there are two short sections that involve an incline/decline which can be a little slippery—wear shoes with grip, especially if it’s been raining! **2. The Room** We stayed in the *Family Room with Mountain View*, which was up three flights of outdoor stairs—so keep that in mind if mobility is an issue. That said, the view from the top was absolutely worth it. The room itself was spotless, spacious, and thoughtfully set up. Here’s what’s included: * A mosquito net over the bed * Bug-guarded windows (a *huge* relief for someone like me with a fear of jungle bugs!) * A hot shower * Towels, toilet roll, and shampoo/shower gel provided * A mini fridge and small freezer * Universal power sockets—no need for adapters! * Comfortable bed and seating * Private balcony with stunning jungle views We felt safe, clean, and extremely comfortable throughout our stay. **3. Food** Breakfast was included and consistently delicious. The daily fresh fruit platter was so vibrant and generous, we found ourselves eating more fruit than usual. The coffee deserves a special mention—rich, aromatic, and absolutely delicious. We even bought some to take home, thanks to Sam! Dinners were outstanding—everything cooked fresh and full of flavour. Our top recommendations: * *Cap cai* (stir-fried veggies) * *Ayam Lada Hitam* (spicy black pepper chicken) * Stir-fried noodles The staff were warm, attentive, and often joined us for a chat or strummed a guitar while we waited for food.

We had an excellent stay at Sam's and both Sam and his team were very friendly and efficient at all times, including arranging airport transfers and treks. Sam's Bungalows are situated at the end of the village upstream from almost everyone else which meant for less scooter traffic in front of it and clean water to swim (with care given the current). Our room was very comfortable with great river view from the balcony and Aircon which was nice to have. Our trek to see the orangutans was very successful and a fun return rafting down the river. We did a separate rafting trip down to the next village which was highly enjoyable too. As it is almost at the end of the village it is a 10-15 minute walk or short scooter ride from the parking area, but we loved the location.

I had a wonderful stay at Sam’s Bungalow in Bukit Lawang. The property has a really peaceful and authentic jungle vibe, which made it the perfect retreat after days of exploring. I especially loved the location—right by the river, surrounded by lush greenery.

Great staff, awesome location, comfortable stay with a good restaurant and many options for activities including trekking. Basically the perfect ‘one stop shop’ for your stay in Bukit Lawang. I’d definitely rebook on a next trip
