This was one of the few rooms available in Bristol during the Bristol Rhythm Roots Reunion music festival, and one of the least expensive. There is really not a "bad" area of Bristol, although the area around Budget Inn Express has seen better days. A new casino has opened just up the road at a former shopping mall site, and may prompt revitalization of this area {which was a fast-food and auto service strip dating from the late 1950s}. There were few guests at the motel, so my stay was especially quiet. My upper-floor room, 626, was dated, but large. The bed {one of two queen-sized beds in my room} was not luxurious, but clean and comfortable enough. The room is not carpeted, which is probably a good thing at budget motels, and everything worked {shower, small refrigerator, in-wall individual AC unit, lights, TV}. This motel has outside balcony access for the upper floor, and outside stairs. While not modern in design, this setup is adequate.. The manager was friendly and helpful. The motel appears to be a family-run operation, and they also seem to operate a nearby Indian restaurant that I am told by friends is quite good.
