We had arrived early at the hotel, but we were allowed an early check-in by an hour and a half. We stayed in the garden lodge at the back of the hotel with louge, kitchen, large bed, and bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable and extra wide (super kingsize). The host on reception was very helpful and pleasant and the hotel was very quirky, which I liked.

The great house is a super venue. I stayed in the garden lodge, which is a maisonnette room, with a kitchen downstairs (great for a little baby girl). There are a few minor repair jobs need (freezer section in the fridge needs a new catch) and perhaps a new paint job soon, but it is my favourite location when I visit Porthcawl. There is a super useful bus stop right outside the hotel, the X2 runs into Porthcawl, and a post office / corner shop over the road. The staff are universally great - we arrive for dinner too late one night and they went out of their way to do sandwiches for us.
