Le Tranchand is in rue Tranchant in the centre of town and is a 10 minute walk from the station. The flat is on the first floor of a small old building and has been newly renovated. The stairs are narrow so it might be difficult to get up them with a large suitcase. There is a box for the keys next to the door. There is a separate toilet in the corridor. There is an open kitchen and living space. The bathroom with a shower and washbasin is off the living room. The shower is large and most importantly the water pressure is high. There were two towels, a small bar of soap, a small bottle of hair and body wash and some hand lotion. The convertible couch in the living room is not very comfortable to sit on and it would be nice to have a small stand to put your drink and mobile phone on while watching TV. There are two stools at the kitchen counter and there's a folding table which was impossible to open. There is a coffee machine and a kettle, a microwave and a cooktop with two burners and a washing machine which also has a 15 minute programme. There is a small fridge and the freezer department needs to be defrosted between stays. The bedroom is behind a partition and has a door and a built-in wardrobe. The bed was about 190cms x 120cms and felt really small especially as there's a shelf just above your head so my feet were always hanging off the end of the bed but apart from that it was was comfortable but would be a tight squeeze for two people. The light switches for the lights above the bed are high up and you need to get up to switch them off. There are plenty of sockets in the flat but I brought an extension cable with me for convenience. The location is ideal. It's round the corner from a Carrefour Express and it's less than 2 minutes from the Hall Grenelle where I played in a chess tournament. I had dinner twice just round the corner at Fleur de Sel which was excellent with a friendly owner called Lilian and a large outdoor terrace at the back.
