The fine print
In case of a no-show, and according to Colombian law "Ley 300 de 1.996. Artículo 65", the property will charge 20% of the total reservation price, or keep depositFor the application of the VAT exemption, foreigners and Colombians who enter the national territory without the intention of establishing themselves in Colombia and who prove such condition are considered residents abroad.
The foreigner residing abroad must prove their condition by presenting the original passport, the Andean card or the Mercosur card proving their immigration status; For this purpose, the passport must be stamped with the PT code (tourism permit) with a validity of 90 days or the type V visitor visa.
The national will accredit his condition of resident abroad, by presenting the documentation issued by the authorities of the country of residence (ID of the country of residence, foreigner identification card, residence card or certificate of residence), with the respective seal of residence. entry to the country stamped in the Colombian passport; therefore, it does not apply if the entry to the country is made through biometric migration.
The exemption in all cases will be applicable for the purchase of a tourist package by the national or foreigner residing abroad.

Lynette “Dated accommodation tower in sprawling convention centre”

While advertised as a standalone Hotel, Hotel Torre Montserrate is actually just a tower within the sprawling Hotel Tequedama conference and convention Centre. I think this needs to be more clearly explained in the promotional advertising as it is confusing ie taxis. The location is neither Candelaria or Chapinero but somewhere in between, right by the national Museum. The rooms are comfortable but dated. The common areas are pretty rough and dated. Breakfast was a large buffet and good. The front desk is understaffed, always huge cues and not particularly efficient. Very high value for money given the low cost of hotels in Bogota. The convention Centre is co-located with a Four Points Sheraton which is probably worth paying a bit extra to stay there as nicer.

Huge room with a good breakfast!! I had the swimming pool pretty much to myself over the lunch time period. There was also a supermarket close by.

I had a really pleasant stay here. The hotel was beautiful, the room was spacious and clean, and the breakfast was delicious every morning. What stood out the most was the staff — very professional, friendly, and always willing to help. I honestly have nothing to complain about. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Bogotá!
