“Very good”

Great location not far from the main square and the port/bus station. It's just off the main street, Via Lorenzo D'Amalfi, but also easily accessible via the ginnels, once you find your way around, so you wouldn't have to dodge tourists and cars in the peak season. We mainly ate out but picked up snacks from the Deco supermarket just opposite. (Watch out for the high prices at the restaurants in the main square. The best restaurant we found for good food and value and great atmosphere was the Trattoria da Maria on the main street.) We had a very comfortable room at the Casa Amalfi with a well-equipped kitchenette and dining space, and a kettle! For us, it was a great base to visit the rest of the coast by bus and boat. We did a circuit from Naples, visiting Pompeii and Sorrento on the Circumvesuviana Train, then took the bus to Amalfi where we based ourselves for a few days. We made day trips out to Ravello and Positano by bus, walked to Atrani via the tunnel through the cliffs, then caught the boat to Salerno for the train back to Naples. It was quite busy, even in March, so we were pleased to be visiting out of peak season.
