Lovely Anna and Julia - the two ladies at reception were friendly and very helpful with recommendations, transport, etc. Perfect location for walking around, close to metro and buses, plenty of restaurants and shops. Not fancy but super clean and quiet.

We waited until our 14 days trip in this part of the world ended to be fair. Not sure how the rest rate this place but it was the worst place we stayed during our trip. The receptionist was very friendly and helpfull therefore I said service is good. However the place is very old, carpet is old and not clean. Bed is very hard and the only reason I rate 6 is because of the receptionist. Comparing to the last hotel we stayed in Almaty Lion Hotel which cost the same but few kilometres out of town. We rate Berkana 2 and Lion hotel 10.

Fab place to stay and explore easily, either on foot or with public transport. Staff are all greatly helpful and friendly, and fluent in english - pretty uncommon for Kz! Room was huge and perfectly equipped with fridge, kettle, balcony... Highly recommended for short or longer stays, I'd happily go back
