Truly special stay — not just clean and comfortable, but full of charm and history Like many reviews here, I can absolutely confirm that Casa da Picva is spotless, extremely comfortable, and in a fantastic location right by the walls of beautiful Óbidos. However, what really stood out to me — and what many reviews don’t mention — is just how fascinating and full of character the house is. Every room is filled with an incredible collection of antiques, paintings, and objects that reflect the rich history of Óbidos and Portugal/ Europe itself. It felt like staying in a living museum, with new details to discover each day — a rare treat compared to more generic places to stay. The breakfast also deserves a special mention. Not only was it delicious and beautifully presented, but the choices were homemade, healthy, and full of flavour — the jams are even made with fruit from the host’s own garden! Finally, the host was simply wonderful — welcoming, generous with his time, and clearly passionate about both the house and his guests’ experience. Casa da Picva is much more than just a place to stay — it’s a unique experience that adds an extra layer of richness to a visit to Óbidos. Highly recommended.

It was a privilege to stay in such a beautiful and historic building. We'll be recommending this accomodation to our family and friends. Wish we had booked to stay longer on our tour of Portugal. João and Ana were perfect hosts, we could have stayed speaking with João all day lol

Great location just outside the city wall. Had free parking. The house is a museum/gallery in itself with antique furniture and artwork. Rooms are quaint and comfortable with a delightful garden outside. Awesome breakfast available at 9 euros each
