No visit to the town of Heraklion is complete without a visit to the "Ancient Palace of Knossos", the origin of the legend of the labyrinth, which dates back as far as 2000 BC. Spend a guided half day tour exploring this former residence of the legendary King Mino, situated in a small valley overlooking the river, only 3 miles (5 kilometers) from Heraklion town.

From the most southern city of Europe - Ierapetra - journey on a boat to the golden island 'Chrissi', also known as 'Donkey Island'. Chrissi Island is a desolate island where you can spend a very pleasant, easy day relaxing at your leisure.

From the pretty village of Elounda, reached by traveling the northern coastal route, take a boat to the island of Spinalonga. This former leper colony includes preserved houses and churches, and a strong Venetian influence in the form of a fortress surrounding the village. Swim in the crystal blue water before enjoying a BBQ lunch.
